Spirit of Independence Award

The mission of Westchester Disabled On the Move, Inc. (WDOMI), a non-residential Independent Living Center for people with disabilities, is to: empower people with disabilities to control their own lives; advocate for civil rights and a barrier-free society; encourage people with disabilities to participate in the political process; educate government, business, other entities, and society as a whole to understand, accept, and accommodate people with disabilities; and create an environment that inspires self-respect.

This mission has led us to establish the Spirit of Independence Award to be presented during the month of October, Disability Awareness Month. The Spirit of Independence Award is presented to an individual/entity who/which has contributed significantly to efforts that promote and enhance independence for people with disabilities.
